ABC WEDNESDAY: F for Festival

A few days ago a big festival took place in my island. It was a celebration day for a monastry named "Mother Mary the one who revealed"(we orthodox give Mother Mary many nicknames). People came from many places. Some of them slept in the yard of the monastry in order to take Mother Mary's bless.

There were many pavilions around the monastry where you could find everything. We didn't know what to buy first...You could hardly walk among the kiosks!

You could fInd backgammons...

all kinds of books...

drying flowers in beautiful colours...

toys for boys and girls...

greek strings of beads (kombologia in greeks)...

wooden stuffs...

ceramic flowerpots and lanterns,
and many many others.

And ofcourse greek festival means FOOD! You could find everything:
from roasted corn...

to greek doughnut (we call it loukouma)...

and OF COURSE greek souvlaki!!!

It took us two hours to see everything but it worth it.
We came back home tired but happy.
