Goodbye Summer!

1st of September!
Winter is coming...
School is coming...
House cleaning is coming...
It's time to say "goodbye" to Summer with the photos of
my family's last vacations!!!

We went to the island of Evia,at a town named Stira.
My sister went there for vacations and she called me everyday and asked me to go there describing the beautiful place and the hotel. Everything she had said was true!
After a three hour journey (by car)...

...we arrived at the hotel " De Angelo ".

As soon as my children saw the pool they wore their bathsuits and...
...for four days they were swimming and playing all day long!

And not just the kids...!!!

They forgot about sea although it was beautiful too.

These four days passed very quickly! I hope we go there again next summer!!!

Camera-Critters: a big snail

"Once upon a time it was a very big snail.
One day he asked his mother:" Why am I so big?" His mother didn't know what to say and after a smile she said:" You're big for the others but you'll always be small for me!" Then she gave him the sweetest kiss and the snail climbed the wall on the way to his room!
AND....they lived happily ever after!!!"

That was a part of a tale I made up for my two years old niece when we saw a very big snail climbing a stoned wall...

A few days ago a big festival took place in my island. It was a celebration day for a monastry named "Mother Mary the one who revealed"(we orthodox give Mother Mary many nicknames). People came from many places. Some of them slept in the yard of the monastry in order to take Mother Mary's bless.

There were many pavilions around the monastry where you could find everything. We didn't know what to buy first...You could hardly walk among the kiosks!

You could fInd backgammons...

all kinds of books...

drying flowers in beautiful colours...

toys for boys and girls...

greek strings of beads (kombologia in greeks)...

ceramic flowerpots and lanterns,
and many many others.

And ofcourse greek festival means FOOD! You could find everything:
from roasted corn...

to greek doughnut (we call it loukouma)...

and OF COURSE greek souvlaki!!!

It took us two hours to see everything but it worth it.
We came back home tired but happy.

ABC WEDNESDAY: E for Eyes

Eyes always say the truth.
You can like or dislike someone only by the way he looks at you...

I met these beautiful eyes 22 years ago. They're dark brown, full of light and vitality. When he's serious his eyes are large and open. When he laughs his eyes are closing like they smile. When he looks at me they're full of love and tenderness. Gorgeous eyes, my husband's eyes...

Yesterday was the celebration of the Assumption.
So after church we gothered to eat and celebrate for my daughter's name-day.
This is my family:(from the left to the right) Alexandra(niece), Alexandra(daughter), me, mom, dad, brother-in-law, father-in-law, mother-in-law,husdand, sister, Antonia(niece) and Olga(niece). You can't see my oldest daughter because she's taking the photo.

We ate roasted lamb and potatoes, greek salad, feta cheese, tzatziki, stuffed blossoms of squashes and cheese pie. After lunch we had cheese cake and chocolate cake for dessert. The children sprayed us with water because it was blowing hot air and so we finished lunch with laughs and hapiness...

ABC WEDNESDAY: D for Dust

Today was a difficult day.

Dust was all over my house.

You could write on my furnitures with your fingers.

So I got up early in the morning and I stared fighting with it!

I washed my balcony, dusted my furnitures and mopped the floor.

Now I'm exhausted so I think it's time for a nap...

Waw ...THE perfect voice

Enjoying handicraft!

Handicraft helps me to relax and create beautiful things.
I started this when I was twelve years old .
In fact, my grandmother taught me how to knit.
This is what I'm working on .
It starts as a piece of linen fabric and leads to ...

... a knitted linen.
I've made 27 pieces and I need 21 to finish a tablecloth.

It'll look like this in the end.
Isn't it pretty?

Fruits from our land

My mom and dad have a beautiful cottage.
They have planted there about forty trees of several kinds.
I love every one of them. Last Wednesday we
visited them and they treated us some delicious fruits...

...grapes, pears and figs!

Summer Memories

Hi everybody! I'm back... a little taner and one kilo fatter!
Let's see together my photo album from my holidays:

This is the beach where we swam every day.
It's sandy , clean and the water is crystal clear.

My children are swimming...

Me playing with the camera...

These are my young daughter Alexandra and
her friend Paris making castles in the sand.

The place was full of pines and olive trees.

The children had a great time with their
old and new friends.

Ten days of relaxing...I wish it was more!!!
